DESCRIPTION:Calling all creators and builders! Join us in the Nature PlaySpace as we bring out materials to create artwork or build structures while we connect with the natural world around us. Each week will look a little bit different as we utilize a variety of materials\, strive towards new goals\, and bring together diverse creative minds. A staff member will be present\, helping to facilitate your creative experience. \nThis is a free\, drop-in program. Staff and materials will be available between 10:30 and 11:30am\, or until materials are gone. Come dressed for the weather and ready to get messy! Everyone is welcome at the Nature PlaySpace\, but it has been designed especially for kids 7 and younger. \nPlease note that this program occurs at the Museum’s Prairie Ridge Ecostation location in west Raleigh. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted the opportunity to talk directly with diverse professionals in the STEAM field? Now is your chance! In this program\, we’ll get an inside look at the lives and careers of guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds\, whose stories may not fit the mold of an “average” professional in their field! Join us to learn about the barriers\, successes and unique experiences they’ve had on their journeys. \n This month\, we’ll learn more about computer science with Ashley Lomboy! \nREGISTER NOW! (Virtual Only)\nAshley Lomboy (Waccamaw Siouan) is the Global Information Security Manager at Corning Optical Fiber and Cable. Ashley earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from St. Martins University in Olympia\, WA\, a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Washington\, and many other technical certifications. She is the leader of the Corning Native American Council and a US Army Veteran serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was the first Native American woman on the Lower Cape Fear YWCA Board of Directors executive team. Ashley is also the founder of the Waccamaw Siouan STEM Studio\, which aims to make STEM more accessible to Waccamaw Siouan Youth.  \nAshley has experienced many careers and loves to share those experiences with other people in her community. Join her to learn more about computer science\, founding the Waccamaw Siouan STEM Studio and the many other paths she has taken! \n\n Professional Previews will take place on Zoom. We recommend this program for middle school and up\, but all ages are welcome.
