SUMMARY:Art of Science: Trees and Bookbinding
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Science series is for adults who like to blend science and art. Each program will include hands-on experience with a citizen science project paired with an associated art project. Participants will take home their project and tools so they can make additional projects on their own. \nIn this program\, we will explore trees and their phenology (seasonal change) before we make a hand-stitched naked spine bound book! Instructions for collecting and submitting tree phenology data and making your own book will be provided during the program — no experience required. Your program fee covers book cover boards\, paper\, and a bookbinders kit with needle\, thread\, awl\, bone folder\, and more\, all of which you will keep. \nPre-registration is required for this in-person program for adults and there is a fee to attend ($15 members\, $17 non-members). Please register online here. \nThis program is intended for adults and will be conducted entirely outdoors. Please come prepared for a short walk over uneven terrain by wearing sturdy closed-toed shoes and dressing for the weather. Long pants\, a wide-brimmed hat\, and sunscreen are recommended for our citizen science data collecting time. We will be in a covered\, shaded space with fans for the art part of the program. Questions? Contact Chris Goforth.
