Whether looking for salamanders in our stream\, catching dragonflies by the pond or helping check nest boxes\, each day we’ll dive into the different habitats of Prairie Ridge and learn about the organisms that live in these spaces through hands-on\, outdoor experiences. Each day’s offerings will be unique\, as we modify programming to reflect what’s going on in nature! Will we be searching for ladybugs? Helping collect data on our purple martin colony? Getting creative with nature art? Playing in the Nature PlaySpace? Join us and find out! \nSummer Nature Adventures for Early Elementary Students is a three-day\, partial-day “mini-camp” for students entering grades K–2 in Fall 2023. \nSummer Nature Adventures Schedule\n\nWednesday\, July 5 — 8:30am–12:30pm\nThursday\, July 6 — 8:30am–12:30pm\nFriday\, July 7 — 8:30am–12:30pm\n\nParticipants should expect to be entirely outdoors\, bring a packed snack and lunch\, and be ready to have fun outside! \nThis program requires registration and costs $100 for Friends of the Museum Members\, and $115 for non-members. \nPreregister here. \nPlease note that completion of this form does not guarantee your child’s spot in this program\, as participants will be enrolled on a first-come\, first-served basis until all spots have been filled. After completion of the form\, you will receive communications from staff regarding your child’s placement.

Learn how to find\, identify\, and report ladybugs for the Lost Ladybug Project. You’ll also learn about the equipment you’ll earn for participating\, a magnifying loupe\, bug box\, and ladybug ID guide\, and how to complete the Ladybug Challenge. \nThis program is intended for adults\, but you are welcome to have your kids participate in the project with you once you have been trained!

Do the skeletons and specimens come out to play? \nFind out on this special edition of the Museum Untold tour after hours! We’ll have the entire Museum to ourselves to experience the exhibits like an insider. You’ll hear untold stories only Museum staff know. (What’s buried under the floor in the dino exhibit?) Discover hidden details among the dioramas\, like a portrait of a cat painted into a mural\, plus some special content just for this experience! \nWalking portion of the tour lasts approximately 2 hours. The experience begins at 7pm in the Daily Planet Café where you can grab a drink(included) and socialize with your guide and new best friends. Your group will set off into the Museum at 7:30pm. \nGuests under 21 are not permitted on this tour. Guests must show a valid ID at the door.
