DESCRIPTION:Love butterflies or want to learn more about them? Join us for a butterfly walk! We’ll talk about host plants\, how to identify butterflies and look for caterpillars and we’ll take a walk through the garden and prairie to do a butterfly count. \nThis program is for adults 18 and up; no prior knowledge needed. Please dress for the weather\, wear closed-toed shoes and bring water. Hat and sunscreen recommended. We will meet at the front entrance kiosk.

SUMMARY:Art of Science: Ladybugs and Needle Felting
DESCRIPTION:Pre-registration is required for this in-person program for adults and there is a fee to attend ($13 members\, $15 non-members). Please register online here. \nThe Art of Science series is for adults who like to blend science and art. Each program will include hands-on experience with a citizen science project paired with an associated art project. Participants will take home their project and tools so they can make additional projects on their own. \nIn this program\, we will explore ladybugs for the Lost Ladybug citizen science project before we needle felt our own ladybugs! Instructions for collecting ladybug data and making your own needle-felted ladybug will be provided during the program — no experience required. Your program fee covers a foam felting mat\, two felting needles and enough wool to make one large or two small ladybugs. \nThis program is intended for adults and will be conducted entirely outdoors. Please come prepared for a short walk over uneven terrain by wearing sturdy closed-toed shoes and dressing for the weather. Long pants\, a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen are recommended for our ladybug-searching time. \nQuestions? Contact Chris Goforth!
