SUMMARY:Herp Hike: Herpin' in the Horseshoe
DESCRIPTION:Spotted Salamander larva. Photo: Mike Dunn. \nJoin us for a slow search for the scaled and slimy critters that live and breed in the wetland pools\, the extensive meadows and floodplain forests of Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve. We will methodically search for frogs and turtles as we hike\, and use dip nets to find tadpoles and salamander larvae\, then peer under covered retreats in hopes of finding snakes and lizards at rest. \nLength of hike: two miles. \nMinimum age: 10 years old (all minors must be accompanied by an adult). \nInstructions: Participants should bring footwear (boots) and a hand towel as they can expect to get their hands wet and their feet muddy. Wear comfortable field clothes appropriate for the weather. Long pants are a must\, plus a hat\, small backpack with water bottle and snack\, and bring binoculars if you have them; sunscreen if needed. \n  \nCaminata Herpetológica: Herpin’ in the Horseshoe\nÚnete a nosotros en la lenta búsqueda de las criaturas escamosas y viscosas que viven y se reproducen en las piscinas de humedales\, los extensos prados y los bosques de llanuras aluviales de Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve.
