SUMMARY:Educator Trek: Early Childhood Dinosaur Science Discovery in East Wake County
DESCRIPTION:Bring the excitement of dinosaurs to your classroom! Join us in Wendell\, NC at the East Wake Education Foundation where we will embark on a prehistoric adventure. Learn how to capture young children’s excitement about the latest dinosaur discoveries to spark a love of science learning. This year’s workshop will focus on Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus rex\, which are not only some of the most popular dinosaurs but the centerpieces of the Museum’s newest dinosaur acquisition – the Dueling Dinosaurs. \nAt the end of the workshop\, eligible teachers will receive one hundred dollars’ worth of science\, math and literacy materials\, a dinosaur tote bag\, and an activity-filled flash drive. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm! \nCredit: 2.5 CEUs for Early Childhood Renewal Credit; 2.5 contact hours toward CEUs or Criteria III for North Carolina’s Environmental Education Certification Program. \nRegistration information: Early Childhood Dinosaur Science Discovery Registration\nOnce you complete the online registration form\, you will receive an email confirming that there is a space available in the workshop(s) you requested. Only teachers attending the workshop will be eligible for the hundred dollars’ worth of materials. If the workshop is already full at the time\, we receive your registration\, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. Registration deadline is February 22. \nEligibility: To be eligible to receive the $100 worth of materials\, registrants must primarily be educators of preschool children ages 3 to 5 years old. Additionally\, over 51% of your students must be from low to moderate income (LMI) families. The LMI household income limit varies by county: \nWake or Johnston: $67\,445/year\nFranklin\, Nash\, Edgecombe or Wayne: $42\,540\nOrange\, Durham or Chatham County: $62\,960 \nIf you teach in any other NC county\, please contact jan.weems@naturalsciences.org for details. \nAll in-person programs will follow current state and federal health guidelines and apply a range of safety measures to mitigate health risks\, including wearing masks while indoors\, in vehicles\, or in close proximity in the outdoors; smaller class sizes; moving into larger rooms (if indoors); keeping participants a safe distance from each other; and increasing sanitation efforts. \nPlease note that in-person programs are subject to change or cancellation depending on COVID-19 restrictions. \n \nSponsored in part by a PNC Grow Up Great Grant:\nDinosaurs: A Gateway to Early Childhood Dinosaur Discovery
