SUMMARY:Winter Exploration at Prairie Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Join one of our experienced naturalists as we explore the plants and animals that live at Prairie Ridge in the winter! Please dress for the weather\, wear closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. If you have your own binoculars\, bring them! If not\, we have plenty we can share. Meet at the entrance kiosk. \nPre-registration is required for this program! \nRegister here\nThis program is limited to 12 people and requires pre-registration. Registration closes 24 hours before the program begins. This program is best suited to ages 5+. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult throughout our time together. Because this program will have children present\, masks are required for all participants whenever we cannot remain 6 feet apart. Thank you for helping keep our children safe! SUMMARY:Jerry's Backyard Nature - Wake Audubon Society Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Jerry Reynolds\, Head of Outreach at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences\, lives in rural Johnston County near Clayton. Behind his house is a 50-acre mixed forest\, unremarkable except that it’s still there! We are rapidly and constantly losing these small forested tracts\, almost without notice. But Jerry notices! He mourns the loss of native plants and animals being literally scraped off the landscape by our growing population. Since moving to Johnston County in 2004\, Jerry has photographed and documented the plants\, fungi\, and wildlife in his backyard and the adjacent forest. From ghost fireflies to least brook lampreys to the Amazing Possum Hole Chronicles\, he will share some of that diversity through photographs and videos. \nThis is a Wake Audubon Society program.  For more information\, please contact Jeff Beane.
