DESCRIPTION:6pm-7pm: Food\, live music and science stations\n7pm: Movie in the WRAL 3D Theater\, followed by commentary \nFROZEN\n\nWhat’s better than getting together with friends and watching a great movie? How about getting together with friends and singing along to a great movie! Get ready for an early holiday gift as we welcome back guests in-person for December’s Museum Movie Night\, featuring the sing-along version of FROZEN. \nRest up your singing voice and join us on Friday\, December 10 as we enjoy Elsa\, Anna\, Kristoff\, Sven and Olaf’s magical adventures. Before the movie\, come enjoy some winter-themed snacks\, hear some great live music and learn about wonders of the Northern countries and the power of snow. After the movie\, we’ll have Michael Cove\, NCMNS Research Curator of Mammalogy\, to help us separate the science from the fiction. You can also test your “Frozen” knowledge in our movie trivia challenge. \nBuy Tickets to Frozen \n“Frozen” is rated PG \n\nTHIS MONTH’S FILM\n\n\nFrozen (2013) — After the tragic loss of the king and queen\, the Kingdom of Arendel becomes trapped in perpetual winter inadvertently created by the new Queen Elsa. Princess Anna joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff and his reindeer sidekick to find her sister Elsa and break the icy spell. Although their epic journey leads them to encounters with mystical trolls\, a comedic snowman Olaf\, harsh conditions and magic at every turn\, Anna and Kristoff bravely push onward in a race to save their kingdom from winter’s icy grip. \n\nSCIENCE STATIONS (6pm-7pm)\nArtic Mammals\nNC Museum of Natural Sciences Mammalogy\nWe’ll have some iconic mammal specimens from the great white north to share. Besides just appreciating their beauty\, we can discuss some cool (no pun intended) adaptations for existing in such an extreme environment\, and threats posed by climate change. \nLet it snow! Frozen Facts about NC\nNorth Carolina State Climate Office\nLearn some fun facts about North Carolina and Raleigh’s winter weather and test your knowledge with a trivia game! Feeling more artistic? We’ll also have coloring sheets sprinkled with fun facts. \nSnow in seconds!\nNorth Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences\nNo special powers like Elsa? With just a cup of water and simple chemistry\, you can still make it snow! Create a blizzard in a bowl with the science of polymers! \nAnimals in Winter\nNorth Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences\nFrom denning to dieting\, torpor to taking flight\, find out how creatures big and small deal with challenging chilly conditions. \nOlaf´s Snowball Showdown\nNorth Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences\nReady\, aim\, fire — or in this case\, snowball! Test your coordination and throwing skills with everyone’s favorite snowman. \n\nMUSIC (6pm–7pm): William Woltz\n\n \nSinger/songwriter William Woltz (voice\, guitar\, bass guitar\, mandolin) is a North Carolina native who’s all over the map musically. He grew up loving both the Beatles and Buck Owens\, and has studied jazz and classical guitar. Over the last four decades he has played a lot of blues\, beach music\, Americana and folk music and he also enjoys playing in the pit orchestra for community theater productions. He’s a member of the N.C. Songwriters Co-op. \nWill performs with the quartet Loos Change\, based in Raleigh\, and also with violinist and songwriter Angela DiPaolo. \n\nFOOD & DRINK\nWhether the weather outside is cold or not\, enjoy hot tea\, cocoa or cider and magically sweet cookie treats … all for FREE!
