SUMMARY:Lunchtime Discovery: Climate Change in Coastal Communities
DESCRIPTION:A Journey to Understanding\n \nWill Freund\, Project Lead\, Climate\, Kayak\, and Conversation \nWith something as big\, complex\, scary and life changing as climate change\, how do we talk about it? Coastal communities everywhere are on the front lines of our changing world\, but not everyone is on the same page. Climb aboard with Will to hear about a true adventure he embarked on to better understand how people in coastal communities talk about climate change. Traveling in a 16-foot sailing kayak\, Will set out from Miami\, Florida\, traveling 1\,100 miles over three and a half months to finish in Norfolk\, Virginia. Now he is back to share what he has learned\, what you can do\, and hopefully\, to instill a bit of adventure along the way. \nJoin us on YouTube!\n\nLive Virtual Presentation hosted by NC Museum of Natural Sciences’ SECU Daily Planet Curator Chris Smith and the NC Department of Environmental Quality Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs staff. \nYou can post questions in the YouTube chat or tweet questions to #LunchTimeDiscovery and mention @NorthCarolinaEE. \nBrought to you by the NC DEQ Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

SUMMARY:Fall in the Garden with ecoEXPLORE
DESCRIPTION:Explore fall in the garden at Prairie Ridge with our ecoEXPLORE team! Learn about the plants in bloom and the many species of animals that make use of the space. You’ll also learn more about the ecoEXPLORE citizen science program for kids in grades K-8. This program is best suited to kids in grades K-8 and their families\, but all ages are welcome. Come dressed for the weather and bring a camera (any will do – cell phones work great!) so you can make ecoEXPLORE observations as you explore! \nThis is a drop-in program\, so head down to our Nature Neighborhood Garden any time during the times listed. Because this program will have children present\, masks are required for all participants whenever you cannot remain 6 feet apart. Thank you for helping keep our children safe! We will observe social distancing recommendations and follow all state-mandated COVID restrictions. \nNOTICE TO CHILDREN AND GUARDIANS\nIf you are under age 13 and you wish to participate in certain events or exhibits at\, conducted by\, or sponsored by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences\, your parent or guardian must register you and provide their consent as well as your information. Please see our privacy policy at http://naturalsciences.org/about/privacy-information for additional information.
