Science Saturday: Antibiotic Resistance

  • Saturday, December 01, 2018
  • 1:00pm - 3:00pm

This month’s Science Saturday features the work of students at NC State University to understand antibiotics and their impacts. Students with Dr. Alice Lee’s Scientific Inquiry in Microbiology class will present posters of their research on antibiotic resistance – when bacteria adapt to survive antibiotic treatment – on the first floor of the Nature Research Center from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

At 2:30pm, undergraduate student researchers, Iris Salswach Cadena and Supriya Caton, from NC State University will also talk about their research from the stage of the SECU Daily Planet Theater.

Science Saturdays is a series of lectures and demonstrations that are held on the first Saturday of each month in the SECU Daily Planet Theater at 2:30pm. The presentations are meant to demonstrate the vast variety of careers in scientific fields from astronomy to zoology and are most appropriate for ages 8 and older. Meet a scientist, learn about current research and ask your questions!

Science Saturdays are held in partnership with the NC State Biomedical Engineering Department and are funded through NC Space Grant.
