SUMMARY:Science Conversations – Juneteenth Edition
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Patricia Bath. Photo: UCLA.\nWe want to meet you! Join us for a special edition of Science Conversations for Juneteenth with Museum educators. We’ll be focusing on the work of two African-American researchers – Dr. Patricia Bath\, inventor of the laser surgical procedure for cataracts\, and Dr. Mandë Holford\, who researches snail venoms and pain medications to cross the blood-brain barrier. We’ll get the conversation going with science demos and quick bites of information\, then pose trivia and critical thinking questions for you to answer. Or bring questions of your own. \nThis program is designed to help young guests tap their dreams\, flex their critical and creative thinking skills\, and develop their own voice. \nScience Conversations are offered in an open-house format. Drop in to chat for as long or as short a time as you wish during the program period. After this special Juneteenth edition\, we’ll return to our regular schedule in July.\nThis walk-up program is offered: \n\nFirst Thursday of the month — 10:30am–noon\nFirst Thursday of the month — 1:30-3pm\nThird Thursday of the month — 10:30am–noon\nThird Thursday of the month — 1:30-3pm\n\nLocation: Windows on the World on the 3rd floor of the Nature Exploration Center. \nDesigned for ages 5 and up.
