Fireflies (or lightning bugs, to most North Carolinians) have fascinated most of us at some time in our lives; for most of us, it was when we were kids. Clyde Sorenson, Professor of Entomology at NCSU, has rediscovered his childhood zeal for these insects, and is trying to understand their diversity and distribution in North Carolina. Dr. Sorenson will talk about the biology, behavior, and ecology of these enchanting beetles, and provide you guidance on where and when you can see some of the more spectacular species.
