What do road rage, the age of Johnny Carson’s wives, intense ACC rivalries, and gay bars have in common? Well, they can all be neatly explained by our evolutionary history, of course! We’ll discuss some common behaviors of our species in light of how evolution may (or may not!) “explain” their existence, and the value of an evolutionary approach to understanding human behaviors.

Miles Engell is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Biological Sciences department at NC State. In addition to teaching a class on the evolution of human behavior, she also teaches general biology, animal behavior, and a graduate course on stress physiology.
