Join us at Prairie Ridge for an introduction to nature journaling! In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to practice your nature journaling skills, especially honing your observation skills and reflecting on your observations. You’ll learn how to use the tools in the provided nature journaling kit and practice techniques that focus on observation and reflection.
Don’t think you’re an artist? No problem! All skill levels are invited — and encouraged — to register. This will be a safe and welcoming space, whether your skill level is stick people or photo-realistic paintings.
Come ready to have some relaxing fun as we learn about and enjoy nature together!
This program has a fee of $25 (non-members) or $20 (members), payable by cash or check, and pre-registration is required. Ages 18+ are welcome. Your fee covers a nature journaling kit that includes a pocket-sized journal, watercolor pencils, an archival pen, a kneadable eraser, a magnifying lens, a pencil, and a smudge stick. Have a journal already? You’re welcome to bring it and use it during the program, saving the provided journal for something else.
Arrive to the program dressed for the weather as we will be outside most of our time together. Closed-toed shoes are required, and please bring a water bottle. A broad-brimmed hat is recommended. Consider bringing a camp chair for use outside the classroom during our hands-on journaling time.
Eligible for three hours of Criteria II or III credit toward the NC Environmental Education Certification program.
To register, contact Chris Goforth at email@example.com with the names of everyone in your group. She will send payment information once your registration has been received.
