Museum Movie Night: Plan 9 From Outer Space

  • Friday, October 23, 2020
  • 6:00pm - 9:00pm

If you were an alien intent on conquering Earth, what would your plan involve? Lasers? Giant Bugs? Robots?

In “Plan 9 from Outer Space,” Director Ed Wood decides that his aliens will use a mysterious “electric device” to turn Earth’s previous residents against the current inhabitants! Join us as we watch one of the worst movies of all time and find out if Plan 9 can save the Universe.

This month’s expert is the Museum’s very own Dr. Rachel Smith, Head of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Lab. She will help us sort out the science behind the movie and also test your knowledge with our movie trivia. Don’t miss it!

The film’s storyline concerns extraterrestrials who seek to stop humanity from creating a doomsday weapon that could destroy the universe. The aliens implement “Plan 9”, a scheme to resurrect the Earth’s dead, referred to as “ghouls”. By causing chaos, the aliens hope the crisis will force humanity to listen to them; otherwise the aliens will destroy mankind with armies of the undead. (Wikipedia)
