As we explore the park\, we will learn the detailed\, and surprising mechanisms that trees employ that allow them to stand up against hurricane-force winds\, transport hundreds of gallons of water to dizzying heights and fight off and even fool predators into helping them transport their seeds. \nWe will closely examine several common species of North Carolina trees\, from the diminutive dogwoods to the massive White Oak\, Red Oak and Tulip Tree. While we learn amazing botanical secrets of these species\, we will also learn the creative utilitarian uses that Indigenous cultures and European colonists found for many of the trees. \nSpace is limited.
