Lunchtime Discovery Series: Cicadas Charismatic Cousins

Most people are familiar with cicadas, with their partially subterranean lifestyle and their signature songs. But, do you know about the amazing and sometimes unbelievable insect groups related to cicadas? Dr. Jason Cryan will discuss the fantastic diversity of planthoppers, treehoppers, and spittlebugs…the charismatic cousins of cicadas!

The Lunchtime Discovery Series features educators, scientists, and other professionals working in a wide range of environmental fields. Lunchtime Discovery lectures are presented by the Department of Environmental Quality’s Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs in collaboration with the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.
