Join Prairie Ridge staff to learn how to use iNaturalist, a wildlife observation/sharing platform available for free online or as a smartphone app, in time to participate in the City Nature Challenge! You’ll learn about iNaturalist, how to use the website and the app, and get hands-on practice in the field. You’ll also learn about the City Nature Challenge, an international competition to see which city can document the most species April 24–27 — and how you can help the Triangle Area win! This is a drop-in program, so no preregistration is required.
This program is for ages 12+. Dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes. Bring a camera (your phone or any other camera you have, or plan to borrow one from us) and a water bottle. Come with iNaturalist pre-loaded on your phone and your account created if you are planning to use the smartphone app to make your observations.
This program is part of the City Nature Challenge: Triangle Area 2020. The City Nature Challenge is an international competition among urban areas to see who can document the most species on iNaturalist (an online wildlife observation platform) from April 24 to 27, 2020. Help the Triangle Area show off how amazing our biodiversity and citizen scientists are by photographing species you see and uploading them to iNaturalist!
