| Research focus is on: diversity of North Carolina's Cenozoic marine fish faunas during the Eocene, Miocene, and Pliocene periods; eastern North Carolina Cretaceous ecosystems with an emphasis on the vertebrate fauna to determine the overall faunal diversity; and North Carolina's Triassic ecosystems, to determine the faunal composition of North Carolina during the time when dinosaurs were first evolving.
