Summer Camps

Welcome

Come play and learn with us this summer! Bring your curiosity and sense of wonder as you join Museum educators for fun activities, games, and crafts that teach about the natural sciences! We offer half-day, full-day, and even week-long residential camps — so there’s something for everyone from rising Kindergarteners to 8th graders!

Registration for Friends of the Museum begins on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 9:00am. Friends will receive a special email which they can register online. February 3-16 registration will be open only to Friends of the Museum members. If non-members register during this time, their registration will be canceled and the registration will be returned minus a $30.00 processing fee.

Public Registration begins on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 9:00am. This registration is open to everyone. A link to register online will be added to the Summer Camp website.

Each child can enroll in up to 2 weeks of full day camps or 4 half day camps. The Museum will cancel any excess registration. A $30.00 processing fee per camp is required if the Museum cancels excess registration.

What grade/level camp is appropriate for my child?

Grade levels stated in program descriptions are now those of the upcoming school year (2015–2016). Please double-check to make sure that you sign your child(ren) up for the appropriate age groups. We cannot make exceptions. Falsified registrations will be cancelled and the registration fee will be refunded minus the $30.00 processing fee per camp.

Following Wake County Kindergarten eligibility requirements, campers must be five years old on or by August 31, 2015, to be eligible for Kindergarten camps. A copy of the birth certificate or its equivalent must be emailed to laura.dameron@naturalsciences.org upon registration.

Refunds

The Museum can grant refunds only when a cancellation is received before May 29, 2015. Cancellations received after May 29, 2015 will not be eligible for a refund. A $30.00 processing fee per camp is required for all refunds. If we are alerted as soon as possible of a child’s illness or family emergency immediately before camp begins, we will do our best to provide a full refund (minus the $30.00 processing fee).

Cancellation

Camps with low enrollment 3 weeks prior to the start date are subject to cancellation.  Campers will be contacted to investigate the possibility of enrollment in another camp.  A full refund will be issued if summer camps are cancelled by Museum staff.

Scholarships

The Museum does offer a limited number of partial scholarships for camp. Scholarship applications must be received by Friday, February 6, 2015. All eligible applicants will be entered into a lottery drawing, and the selected scholarship recipients will be notified by Wednesday, February 11, 2015 by email. The family’s financial contribution will be due upon acceptance of scholarship and completion of the registration process.
