Special Populations

The following services are available:

  • Wheelchairs may be checked out at the front desk, free of charge
  • ALDs (Assistive Listening Devices) for hard of hearing visitors are available at the front desk for any of the exhibit hall programs
  • Programs or tours for special needs groups

Special populations programs remove access barriers and provide educational opportunities for groups who may benefit from accommodations specific to their group’s needs.  Tailored outreach programs are available for the following groups:

  • Senior citizens
  • Spanish or bilingual programming for the Hispanic/Latino community
  • At-risk youth
  • Students and adults receiving special education services
  • Pediatric patients and their families
  • Persons with physical, mental, intellectual, behavioral, or emotional disabilities

Staff-led tours are available as an accommodation for visitors with physical or intellectual disabilities.   Details on Outreach program fees can be found on the Outreach page. Please note that financial assistance is sometimes available.
