A Look at Carolina Bays in Southeastern North Carolina
Lee Phillips, Associate Professor of Geology
Department of Geology and Geography, University of North Carolina at Pembroke
Phillips will discuss Carolina Bays, especially those in southeastern NC. The presentation will include a description of different bay-types in the region, and will focus on the geological characteristics and age of the sand rim at Jones Lake in Bladen County. He will discuss how climate changes have influenced the formation of these mysterious landforms.
