Member Exclusive: Astronomy Tours
Join Astronomy & Astrophysics Research Laboratory Director Rachel Smith and Assistant Director Patrick Treuthardt for an expansive view of astronomy on Thursday, April 17. Learn about the structure and evolution of galaxies, how meteorites contribute to our understanding of how planets form, and what forming stars can tell us about the evolution of our solar system. Then take a trip to our rooftop terrace for a private viewing session through our brand new Celestron C6-SGT computerized telescope.
There are two sessions: 6:30 and 7pm. Each session is limited to 20 members and will last about 30 minutes. There will be a private viewing on the roof from 8-9pm for all tour participants. The first session will have an hour break and the second session a half hour break between programming. We invite you to explore the exhibits in the Nature Research Center, which is open from 5-9pm that evening.
Viewing is dependent on clear weather. In the event of rain, the Astronomy Tours will be rescheduled to April 24.
Space is very limited. Registration is required. All members ages 5 and older are welcome. No strollers allowed.
