The Stinker - Ig Nobel Prize mascotJoin us as the 2014 Ig® Nobel Prize Ceremony is streamed live to the SECU Daily Planet from Harvard's Sanders Theatre. Streaming will begin at 5:40pm with pre-show entertainment, and the official program will start at 6pm. Kaytee Smith, Coordinator of Virtual Education, will emcee the event.

What are the Ig® Nobel Prizes? They are "for achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think." They are awarded each year in a gala spectacle by actual Nobel laureates. Previous awards have been given for converting old Russian ammunition into new diamonds, for the development of a wasabi fire alarm, and for demonstrating that the problem of illegally parked luxury cars can be solved by running them over with an armored tank.

The theme of this year's ceremony (though not necessarily of the achievements that win prizes) is FOOD.
