Homeschool Day Program Descriptions

Program # PR1

Ages 4 through 6
Children in this age group need to have an adult companion.
Limit 10 children per topic. Students will participate in both topics.

We’ll look down under logs, leaves and branches to find out who is hiding and what they are doing.  Then we’ll make rotten log boxes and isopod igloos to take home.

Come and explore Prairie Ridge’s pond and discover the cool critters who call the pond home.  This program will take place on the bank of the pond and we’ll do our best to stay dry.

Program # PR2

Ages 7 through 9
Limit 15 students per topic. Students will participate in both topics.

Learn to identify the birds of Prairie Ridge. We will walk the trails looking and listening for a variety of bird species.

Look for ladybugs as we help scientists study one of the world’s most popular beetles.

Program # PR3

Ages 10 and up
Limit 15 students per topic.  Students will participate in both topics.

Did you know that nature has its own clean-up crew? There are many plants and animals that help recycle natural materials in our environment. We will take a hike to look for these recyclers and learn more about the decomposers at Prairie Ridge.

Meet some native plants in the garden.  Learn what to do to attract wildlife. For this program we’ll focus on honing observation skills, sketching, and drama.
