First Friday of every month
5–9 pm
Spend a delightfully different evening on the First Friday of every month. Enjoy light fare plus beer and wine from the Acro Café, shop at the Museum Store, enjoy the Nature Art Gallery, groove to live music and stroll through fabulous exhibits. At 7 pm, catch a free cult classic at The Natural Horror Picture Show.

Governor's Tree Lighting

Event - Come and meet the animals after hours! The Museum will stay open until 7 pm for visitors attending the Governor's Tree Lighting.
First Night Raleigh

Event - The Museum joins the annual downtown Raleigh celebration.
Astronomy Days
Jan. 30 - Jan. 31; Saturday, 9 am - 5pm; Sunday, noon - 5 pm
Event - See the big picture — of the Universe. NASA exhibits, telescopes, astrophotography, kids' crafts and animals of the constellations. You can even launch your own rocket!
Groundhog Day
Feb. 2, 10 am - Feb. 2, 3 pm
Event - Meet Sir Walter Wally the groundhog and get his prognostication for the next six weeks.
Reptile and Amphibian Day
Mar. 13, 9 am - Mar. 13, 5 pm
Event - See amazing and exotic live reptiles and amphibians from around the world. Get up close to venomous snakes, poison dart frogs and other herps from hot places.
Planet Earth Celebration
Apr. 17, 11 am - Apr. 17, 6 pm
Event - Learn about living sustainably, view exciting models for sustainable buildings and meet some cool green vendors.
