Meet Dr. Roland Kays and learn about his research on rodents and how they help regenerate new forests. Learn how Dr. Kays tracks seed dispersal using tracking devices and surveillance cameras. Prior to this program, we will send materials to your site so the class may observe the behavior of the wildlife at your school! Students will share their observations.
S.M.A.R.T.S. PROGRAM (Grades 3-12) (Scientists Making Answers Relevant for Teachers and Students.) The S.M.A.R.T.S. program allows students to interact with a scientist and learn about their research. The programs are 30-45 minutes long and are offered on specified days, between 8:30am and 10:30am. They are interactive and support the North Carolina Science Essential Standards.
Registration: Schools must have some form of videoconferencing equipment or software to participate. Programs must be scheduled 6 weeks in advance.
