Arthropod Zoo
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
Volunteers assist with care and husbandry of living arthropods and with preservation and labelling of specimens.
Time commitment: two-hour shifts 4–6 times per month (Monday–Friday, 10 am–4 pm; weekend opportunities also available)
Training/Experience: Experience with living and/or dead arthropods preferred. Basic computer skills useful. The Museum will train volunteers on Arthropod Zoo protocol.
Fish & Invertebrates
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS END OF JUNE
Volunteers assist with daily care and maintenance of marine and freshwater fish and invertebrates.
Time commitment: two- to three-hour shifts 3–4 times per month (Monday–Friday, 9 am–3 pm). Prefer someone who can commit to a regular volunteer schedule.
Training/Experience: Experience with marine and freshwater fish and invertebrates preferred. On-the-job training provided to supplement volunteer’s experience.
Program Animal Collections
NO VACANCIES AT THIS TIME
Volunteers assist with daily care and maintenance of native (and some exotic) small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates. Check with Volunteer Coordinator regarding availability.
Time commitment: two- to three-hour shifts 3–4 times per month (Monday–Thursday, 9 am–3 pm; Friday 9 am–5 pm)
Training/Experience: Training provided in proper handling techniques. Experience with animal care and willingness to work with ALL animals preferred. Confidence in handling snakes helpful.
Terrestrial Exhibits
NO VACANCIES AT THIS TIME
Volunteers assist with daily care and maintenance of native (and some exotic) reptiles and amphibians. Check with Volunteer Coordinator regarding availability.
Time commitment: two- to three-hour shifts 3–4 times per month (Monday–Friday, 9 am–3 pm). Prefer someone who can commit to a regular schedule.
Training/Experience: The Museum will train all volunteers in proper handling techniques. Experience with reptiles and amphibians preferred. Knowledge of appropriate husbandry techniques helpful. Confidence in handling snakes helpful.
