In 2005, Colin Brammer earned his Doctorate from Utah State University in Systematics and Taxonomy focusing on Stratiomyidae, the Soldier Flies (Insecta: Diptera) — Dissertation Title: Evolutionary History of Clitellariinae and Stratiomyidae (Insecta: Diptera) Using Molecular, Morphological, and Total Evidence Analysis. He received the Tesi Scholarship for Graduate achievements in 2004, as well as the Utah State University School of Graduate Fellowships.
Brammer’s previous positions included: Curator of the Insect Collection at USU; Research Associate with the USDA, APHIS, PPQ, CPHST Plant Epidemiology and Risk Analysis Laboratory (PERAL); and Assistant Systems Analyst for the National Agricultural Pest Information System (NAPIS) database with the Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey (CAPS) program.
Brammer has 15 years of formal and informal teaching experience and his interests include taxonomy, education through hands-on experience, and reading.
