Museum rolls out NRC “Mystery Box” project across the Triangle
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences opens its much anticipated new wing in the next few weeks and as excitement builds about this expansion in downtown Raleigh, the Museum is rolling out a campaign to give visitors a chance to see the Nature Research Center before its much anticipated 24-hour grand opening Friday, April 20.
Starting Sunday, March 25 through Friday, March 30, Museum staff and volunteers will place 500 “Mystery Boxes” across Raleigh, Durham, Cary, RTP and Chapel Hill to promote the NRC Gala After Party being held on Friday, April 13 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Each box contains a QR Code on the inside lid that opens up to a landing page telling them what they’ve won. There are also some really cool items inside the box that could mean discounts to the Museum store, $10 off at an area restaurant or even a FREE pair of tickets for you and a guest to attend the After Party and MUCH more! One of the really unique features of the box is the band around it which is made out of “seed paper” you can either keep as a memento or PLANT it and watch as it sprouts beautiful wildflowers.
Keep your eyes peeled for these boxes to appear on the street, on a park bench, inside your favorite restaurant, or even inside a bus! You never know where one might pop up. To find out where a new batch has been placed, follow us at www.Twitter.com/NRCGrandOpening #afterpartybox.
