Enjoy a weekend-long exploration of the birds, wildflowers, wildlife, streams, geology, folklore and plants of this spectacularly beautiful area on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Stream exploration, salamander hikes, wild flower walks, speakers, entertainment, late-night stargazing, and much more highlight this laid–back learning adventure scheduled for the peak of the spring wildflower season in the mountains. Patrick McMillan, PBS host and naturalist, and other expert naturalists from the region will guide your discovery of the beauty and wonder of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Wildacres Retreat Center, on its’ own heavily wooded peak and adjoining the Pisgah National Forest, is the base for all activities, and features first-class meals, rooms, meeting spaces. Blue Ridge Discovery Weekend is a program of Discovery Place, a science museum in Charlotte, NC.

Registration information: Registration required. Fill out online, print and mail the Museum’s Registration Form  and Health Form  with payment. Registration deadline is two weeks prior to trip start date. Trips failing to reach the minimum registration numbers by the deadline date may be canceled. Please call to check on trip status if interested in registering after the deadline.
