Buff-Bellied Hummingbird [1]

(Amazilia yucatanensis)

This bird is fairly common on the Atlantic Slope from south Texas to the Yucatan Peninsula. A bird was banded in South Carolina not far from the North Carolina border in 2001. In October 2007, a Buff-bellied Hummingbird was sighted in Arapahoe, North Carolina. This was the first documented occurence of this species for NC.
