Allen's Hummingbird [1]

(Selasphorus sasin)

This species breeds in coastal California and southern Oregon, and winters in western Mexico.

The state's first reported Allen's Hummingbird [2] was banded in Manteo. This young male survived the blizzard there and was present for eight weeks from mid-January through mid-March 2003.
