Spend a morning exploring Prairie Ridge Ecostation [2] with Museum educators as your guides. Dress for the weather and bring a snack to enjoy in between the two program sessions.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
NEW! You may now purchase tickets directly for the programs you wish to participate in. Please read information below carefully.
- There are three programs available each one covering two topics.
- Programs are designed for age ranges specified. Older children may attend programs with younger siblings. Younger children may not attend programs with older siblings.
- Children will always be under direct adult supervision. Program leaders will take students to program sites and return them to the orientation area.
- Minors must be accompanied to event by paying adult. Parents must attend program with children ages 4 to 6.
- Friends discount are not available due to the low cost of the event.
Homeschool Day Program Descriptions
Program # PR1
Ages 4 through 6
Children in this age group need to have an adult companion.
Limit 10 children per topic. Students will participate in both topics.
DOWN UNDER!
We’ll look down under logs, leaves and branches to find out who is hiding and what they are doing. Then we’ll make rotten log boxes and isopod igloos to take home.
POND EXPLORATION
Come and explore Prairie Ridge’s pond and discover the cool critters who call the pond home. This program will take place on the bank of the pond and we’ll do our best to stay dry.
Program # PR2
Ages 7 through 9
Limit 15 students per topic. Students will participate in both topics.
BIRDS ON THE WIRE
Learn to identify the birds of Prairie Ridge. We will walk the trails looking and listening for a variety of bird species.
LOST LADYBUG ADVENTURE
Look for ladybugs as we help scientists study one of the world’s most popular beetles.
Program # PR3
Ages 10 and up
Limit 15 students per topic. Students will participate in both topics.
NATURE’S RECYCLERS
Did you know that nature has its own clean-up crew? There are many plants and animals that help recycle natural materials in our environment. We will take a hike to look for these recyclers and learn more about the decomposers at Prairie Ridge.
WILD IN THE GARDEN
Meet some native plants in the garden. Learn what to do to attract wildlife. For this program we’ll focus on honing observation skills, sketching, and drama.
