Warm spring rains bring many amphibians out to catch bugs and breed. Toads that come to porch lights at night soon will be moving about. American toads and Southern toads come out first, breeding in February and March. Fowler’s toad is next, typically breeding in late March or April. After breeding, toads move from ponds to their warm season range where almost any critter that fits in their mouth is fair game.
