Q: Why are the Museum camps peanut free?
A: In response to the growing number of peanut allergies, and for the safety of all children, the Museum has decided to adopt this policy.
Q:
WHY IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF CLASSES EACH CHILD MAY TAKE?
A: In recent years the popularity of the Museum’s summer camps
has exploded! To make it possible for more children to participate in
the Museum’s summer camps, the total number of classes each child may
take is limited to 2.
Q:
IF SUMMER CAMPS ARE SO POPULAR, WHY DON'T YOU JUST OFFER MORE CLASSES?
A: The Museum has only two classrooms where summer camps can meet.
Most of our summer instructors are schoolteachers whose summer breaks
are short, so we can only offer six weeks of classes.
Q:
DOES IT MATTER WHETHER I GET MY REGISTRATION IN BY FEBRUARY 22 (FOR FRIENDS) OR MARCH 7 (FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC)?
A: Yes! All registration forms received on or before the first day of registration will be processed on a lottery basis. Later registrations are processed in the order they are received.
Q:
LAST YEAR I SENT MY REGISTRATION IN A WEEK BEFORE MY FRIEND. THEY GOT
IN THE CLASSES THEY WANTED WHILE I DIDN'T. WHY IS THAT?
A: All registration forms that come in on or before the first
day of registration are treated equally in a lottery.
Q:
WHERE IS YATES MILL POND?
A: Yates Mill Pond is located at the intersection of Penny Road
and Lake Wheeler Road in southern Wake County. It is approximately 20
minutes from the Museum.

Museum.

Q: When will I receive confirmation?
A: Registrations will be processed within a week of receipt, after the registration period has officially started. Your confirmation will then be printed and mailed to you. Please do NOT call regarding confirmation information since answering these calls slows the registration process for everyone. The information should be arriving at your home shortly.
Q: What age group should I sign my child
up for?
A: Your child(ren) should be signed up according to their current grade / minimum age. If your child is in Kindergarten this (2007-2008) school year, they should be signed up for the PreK-K classes, not the 1st-2nd grade classes. We cannot make exceptions, and registration forms that are for incorrect age groups will be returned.
Q: My child will be 4 by the time camp begins.
A: Can I sign them up for the PreK–K class?
No, because they will be in a class with children who have already completed Kindergarten and some who may already be 7 years old. We cannot make exceptions.
