Whiteville: Bird Walk and Techniques to Trap, Tag and Track a Bird

  • Saturday, September 16, 2017
  • 7:30am - 11:30am

Join John Gerwin, Research Curator of Ornithology at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and the bird unit crew, for a morning nature walk at Wildlife Action, Inc. (543 Sunset Terrace, Whiteville). We will identify local flora and fauna and discuss their natural history. We will also deploy some fine mesh-net “traps” and attempt to capture some live birds to tag and study. This includes the use of tags on birds’ legs, and tracking devices that a bird wears on its back for a given time.

Free to attend, but pre-registration is required. Please call the Museum at 910.914.4185, or email Meredith Morgan to register.
