Prairie Ridge Nature Exploration: The Prairie

  • Sunday, August 27, 2017
  • 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Come explore Prairie Ridge and learn about the environment that makes it unique. Be immersed in the outdoors and see the diversity Prairie Ridge has to offer. From the forest to the prairie to the pond or garden, learn about the different places many plants and animals call home. The topic will vary, so you’ll never know what you might see or learn at Prairie Ridge!

This month we will be exploring the prairie. Come learn about grasses that can grow taller than you. Use a net to catch insects living amongst the grasses. Maybe you will even see a rabbit hop by or a snake slither on through!

No pre-registration required! All ages are welcome. Meet by the entrance kiosk with a water bottle and clothing appropriate to the weather. Closed toed shoes are required, but we also recommend long pants, sunscreen, and a hat.

For more information, contact Lindsay Castret at lindsay.castret@naturalsciences.org. In case of inclement weather, call the Prairie Ridge weather line at 919.707.8888, option 5, for information about possible cancellations.
