Longleaf Lifelong Hike II

  • Wednesday, September 30, 2015
  • 8:00am - 5:00pm

We will continue exploring the longleaf pine restoration efforts in the sandhills with Jeff Marcus, NC Nature Conservancy, who led our visit in March.  The longleaf pine forest once stretched from Virginia to Florida to Texas, covering 92 million acres of the southeastern United States.  Now reduced to an area less than 3% of the original range, there are efforts to restore longleaf pine back to areas where it once occurred.
