Put your research scientist skills to the test measuring the effect of alcohol on fruit fly behavior! That’s right, you can watch flies get ‘drunk’ and figure out if the genetic differences between flies affect their response to ethanol exposure. In week 1, we will learn how to perform the Ethanol Mobility Assay and apply it to flies with differing genetic make-up and record our observations in Lab Notebooks. In week 2, we will perform statistical calculations on our experiment, discuss the results and compare it to the research literature.
