Natural Selections: Wake County Science & Brewers Expo, Thursday, August 21, 6-9pm. Discuss the science of brewing; Sample local beer.What is bumble bee beer made with? What does oyster beer taste like? Find out when you join the brewers of Wake County at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh for a one-of-a-kind evening of beer and science. At this sampling session, held Thursday, August 21 from 6 to 9pm, more than a dozen brewers will offer unique creations fitting the Museum’s natural science focus. You can also sit in on discussions about fermentation, flavors and the future of beer, or learn more from local environmental groups and the work they do. Don’t miss this opportunity to sample amazing local beers and even some brand new brews!

Participating Breweries:

Plus, be among the first to taste a new experimental beer made with yeast isolated from bumble bees. The beer was recently developed by the NC State Brewery in collaboration with Dr. Anne Madden and other members of the Your Wild Life team — scientists affiliated with the lab of Dr. Rob Dunn in the NCSU’s Department of Biological Sciences.

You must be 21 or older to attend. A photo ID is required for entry. Ticket price includes 7oz collectible Natural Selections tasting glass. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Museum.
