The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences received more than 700 entries during its first ever Shark Illustration Contest for Kids. Winning pictures, plus more than 100 honorable mentions, will be displayed in the Museum Store beginning Friday, March 26 and running through May 9.

Tap your toes to live bluegrass music from the Kickin Grass Band, indulge in delicious barbecue from Kings Restaurant, and bid on vacation getaways and other interesting items at the Silent Auction. All proceeds benefit the Educators of Excellence Fund, a Museum program that provides unique continuing education opportunities for science teachers across the state.

Come see the big picture — of the Universe — as the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences hosts its 20th annual Astronomy Days event on Saturday, January 30 from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, January 31 from noon to 5 pm. Check out Mars in 3D, view the sun safely through solar telescopes, launch your own rocket and meet live animals of the constellations. You can also meet a live astronaut!
