Fascinated by what causes hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions and other natural disasters? Why does hail vary in size? Ever wondered how animals are affected by the weather? Which emergency response services are dispatched during these events? If you’ve ever asked any of these questions, the third annual StormFest at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh is where you need to be. The free all-day event will be held on Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(Raleigh)—The Nature Art Gallery at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is celebrating summer with a featured exhibit of new pottery by Freechild Studio beginning Friday, June 1. Color on Clay II is Freechild’s second show at the Nature Art Gallery. John Garland and Mary Paul, owners of the Knightdale pottery studio, will be at the Gallery for an opening reception and meet and greet on June 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The show continues through Sunday, July 1.
